Abaya

Abaya

The abaya is an over garment worn by some women in Muslim-majority countries. It is the traditional form of hijab / Jilbab, or Islamic dress, for many countries of the Arabian peninsula. It is sometimes adopted in other parts of Islamic world. Traditional abayas are black, and may be either a large square of fabric draped from the shoulders or head, or a long black caftan. The abaya should cover the whole body save face, feet, and hands. It can be worn with the niqab a face veil covering all but the eyes. Some women choose to also wear long black gloves, so their hands are covered underneath the abaya.
*Abayas are made to a standard length of 150 cm / 59" , good for person up to height of 170 cm / 5'6", size over XL and height over our standard adds to cost.

The usage of the term Jilbab or Jilbaab or Jelbab refers to any long and loose-fit coat or garment worn by some Muslim women. They believe that this definition of jilbab fulfills the Quranic demand for a Hijaab. In Egypt the jilbab is known as Galabeya and worn by men and women. The Galabeya is similar to the Abaya, more decorative tunic that would be worn for home and festive occasions.
The jilbab we sell are available from samll to XXL size Jilbab with a standard length of 57" / 145 cm.

Hijab

In some Arabic-speaking countries and Western countries, the word hijab primarily refers to women's head and body covering, but in Islamic scholarship, hijab is given the wider meaning of modesty, privacy, and morality. Commercially the word Hijab is the product name used for Islamic scarf or head cover.
Other terms used for Hijab ( head cover or scarf ) is Shayla also known as khimar in some countries which is usually much bigger in size than hijab so when wrapped around head it covers shoulders and reach till below bust level.
Hijab is available in two main shapes square and rectangular, elder Muslim women prefer the square hijab for it's simple way of wrapping, young Muslim women prefer the rectangular hijab as it could be wrapped in different stylish ways.
Minimum Required size for a hijab (shayla) to cover shoulder and reach below bust level is 29.5" x 70.8" / 75 cm x 180 cm.

Comes from the word khamr, the root meaning of which is to cover. For example, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Khammiru aaniyatakum (cover your vessels).” Everything that covers something else is called its khimar. But in common usage khimar has come to be used as a name for the garment with which a woman covers her head; in some cases this does not go against the linguistic meaning of khimar. Some of the fuqahaa’ have defined it as that which covers the head, the temples and the neck.

Could be worn with or without niqab. The head style abaya is made to the full width of fabric so one size fits all. Selection of size is based upon your height.

Niqab

Is a veil which covers the face, worn by some Muslim women as a part of sartorial hijab. It is popular in the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf but it can also be found in North Africa, Southeast Asia, the United States, the Indian subcontinent and all over Europe, particularly the United Kingdom. Women who wear the niqab are often called niqabi; this word is used both as a noun and as an adjective. The niqab may be made of two, three or four layers, the bottom layer on face is usually made of cotton breathable fabric, one of the layer known as "eye screen" is made of a net or tulle fabric and other layers are made of Chiffon. The niqab could be fastened on back of head by snaps, Velcro or tie back, the best from usage point of view is the tie back. Usually the niqab is Black in color but now it is available in other colors usually dark colors as Navy Blue and Brown to match the clothing women is wearing.
